When my husband and I started flipping houses for profit many years ago, the housing market was great. It didn’t take much to turn a fixer-upper house into a livable home and sell for a big profit. Our skills as interior designers back then were rarely tested because we knew that we had to do little more than clean up, make a few repairs and slap a coat or two of paint on a home and it would sell, most often to a couple who had their own plans and would start ripping down walls within a week of buying the place. Our goal then was to sell fast, and that was easily achieved at a time when mortgages were practically being given away.
